Google today delivered Android 6.0 Marshmallow for several of its Nexus devices. If you don't feel like going the manual install route, an over-the-air update for each of these products will also be arriving very soon.
The Marshmallow update focuses on improvements to battery life through a new feature called Doze, and also upgrades Android's handling of app permissions in a way that gives users much more efficient control over exactly what information an app has access to. then there's Now on Tap, the biggest user-facing new feature in Android 6.0. When activated, Now on Tap scans and analyzes what is on your screen to pull up information for people, places, or pretty much anything else. Android 6.0 also includes native fingerprint authentication support — just in time for Google's two new Nexus phones, the Nexus 5X and 6P. Those devices are scheduled to ship this month with Android 6.0 out of the box.
